Frequently asked

FAQs

Answers to the questions homeowners ask us most often.

What does The Kitchen Base provide?
We provide temporary kitchens for homeowners while their main kitchen is being renovated, repaired, replaced or unavailable.
Who is this service for?
The service is mainly for homeowners and families who want to stay at home and keep everyday routines moving during kitchen disruption.
Do I need water and electricity access?
Yes. Our temporary kitchens usually require access to 2 x standard household 240v sockets and water access via an outside tap or hose connection. We will discuss your available connections before confirming the setup.
Can the temporary kitchen go on a driveway?
Yes, a driveway may be suitable if there is enough space, safe access and suitable utility connections. We will confirm the most appropriate location after discussing your property and project.
Is delivery and installation included?
Delivery and installation are included within a 30 mile radius of the SP1 postcode. For locations outside of that radius, delivery and installation will be quoted on a case-by-case basis.
How much does it cost?
Each temporary kitchen is £500 per week for the first 3 weeks, then £375 per week from week 4 onwards. Final quotes may vary depending on delivery, access, location and setup requirements.
What happens if my renovation overruns?
If your renovation takes longer than expected, let us know as soon as possible. Subject to availability, we can usually extend the hire period. From week 4 onwards, the reduced weekly rate is £375 per week.
How much space do I need?
The space needed will depend on the temporary kitchen setup and your property. Suitable locations may include a driveway, garage, garden area or another practical space with safe access. We will discuss this before confirming your quote.
Do I need to prepare anything before delivery?
We will let you know what is needed before delivery. This may include ensuring clear access, confirming where the temporary kitchen will be placed, and making sure suitable electricity and water access is available — ideally 2 x standard household 240v sockets and an outside tap or hose connection.
Can you provide a temporary kitchen if I do not have water or electricity nearby?
Usually, suitable access to electricity and water is required. Ideally, this means 2 x standard household 240v sockets and water access via an outside tap or hose connection. If this is not available, please let us know when enquiring so we can discuss what may be practical.
How long can I hire a temporary kitchen for?
Hire periods can be arranged around your renovation schedule. Many customers need a temporary kitchen for several weeks while their main kitchen is being completed.
Where can the temporary kitchen be placed?
This depends on your property, access and available space. Suitable locations may include a driveway, garage, garden area or another appropriate space at your home.
Is it suitable for families?
Yes. The service is designed to help families keep normal life running during renovation work.
Do you install the kitchen?
Yes, the temporary kitchen is delivered and set up so it is ready for use, subject to the agreed requirements for your property.
Can builders or architects arrange this for their clients?
Yes. We are happy to speak with builders, architects, insurers and renovation companies who want to support homeowners during kitchen works.
How do I get a quote?
Complete the quote form with a few details about your project, location, dates and available space. We will then respond with the next steps.
